Two people taken to Surrey hospital after M25 crash near Godstone
Two people have been taken to a Surrey hospital following a multi-vehicle crash on the M25[1] on Monday morning (November 25). All traffic was briefly held on the clockwise carriageway between Junction 5, for Chipstead and Sevenoaks, and Junction 6 for Godstone shortly after 9am. Emergency services, including South East Coast Ambulance Service (SECAmb) paramedics, were soon called to the scene.
Traffic and travel monitoring service Inrix reported that the crash had involved two lorries and a car, with highway cameras in the area showing that one lorry had left the carriageway and came to a stop on the embankment. Two lanes of four were re-opened at around 10am, though heavy congestion persisted while emergency services completed recovery works. At the incident’s peak, road users faced delays of around 1.5 hours as queues spread back onto the M26 westbound.
A spokesperson for SECAmb said: “I can confirm we were called at approximately 9.10am today (Monday 25 November) to reports of an RTC on the M25 between junction 5 and 6. Ambulance crews attended and two patients were assessed and treated at the scene before being taken to East Surrey Hospital for further checks.” At the time of writing, the M25 clockwise remains partially blocked near Godstone and road users continue to face lengthy delays on the motorway.
National Highways currently estimates normal travel conditions to resume between 2.45pm and 3pm on Monday afternoon.
