Witness and dashcam appeal launched by police after lorry crashed into field

Witnesses are sought following a lorry which crashed into a ditch in Leicestershire[1]. One man was arrested following the incident which saw the A511 closed for several hours.

The incident happened at around 8.35am on Monday, October 21 when the flatbed truck, which was carrying metal poles, left the A511 at Sinope, near Coalville[2], and ended up in a field. The crash prompted a major response from police, fire and ambulance crews after the vehicle burst into flames.

No life-threatening injuries were reported. A 57-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of drink driving[3] and is currently on police bail. Investigations are ongoing, with police now turning to the public for help.

In a statement, North West Leicestershire Police said it wanted to hear from witnesses who have not spoken to officers so far. They said from inquiries carried out “a number of motorists” may have seen the lorry in the moments leading up to the crash and the incident itself.

Officers are also appealing for dash cam footage to aid investigations. Anyone with information is urged to call Leicestershire Police[5] on 101, quoting crime reference number 24*627947 or by reporting details online.
