Woman jailed after causing death of ‘caring and amazing’ dad-of-three in A500 crash
A 60-year-old woman has been jailed over the tragic death of a beloved father-of-three by dangerous driving in Cheshire. Alison Cooper killed ‘wonderful’ and ‘kind’ dad Chris Parsons after she braked sharply on the A500 in June 2022, causing Mr Parsons to swerve his black Renault Clio into oncoming traffic. She appeared at Chester Crown Court on 12 September where she admitted to causing death by dangerous driving.
Cooper, of of Badger Brow Road, Loggerheads, returned to the court on 25 November to receive a 40-month prison sentence and a five-year driving ban, reports Cheshire Live[1]. The fatal collision occurred about 4.45pm on Thursday, 16 June 2022, on the A500 in Barthomley, when Cooper’s red Ford Fiesta braked sharply, leading to 29-year-old Chris Parsons swerving his black Renault Clio into oncoming traffic where it struck a blue Seat Ateca. Chris Parsons, from Mostyn, North Wales, died at the scene.
His grieving family said at the time: “Our beloved Chris sadly passed away on Thursday 16 June 2022 aged 29 years old.
Dad-of-three Chris Parsons died in a crash caused by a dangerous driver on the A500
“Words can’t describe the heartache we as a family are going through. He was a wonderful son, brother, uncle, and loving father to his three amazing children who he will be sorely missed by. “He was an amazing, kind, caring wonderful person who would go above and beyond for absolutely anyone.
Rest In Peace Shifty, fly high, gone but never forgotten.” DC Lisa Evans-Hill from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit commented on the tragic situation, saying: “This was a dangerous action on a busy road with fatal consequences. This decision to brake, caused not only Chris’s family’s lives to change forever that day, but Mrs Cooper’s as well.”
She added, “I hope it makes people think carefully about their actions behind the wheel. Everyone should be aware that when they get in a vehicle, they have the potential to cause real damage and even take a life. You have not only your life in your hands but other road users and this needs to be remembered every time you make that journey.
Please drive carefully and safely for everyone’s sake.”
