A130 serious crash police update after four injured

Police followed a car onto the major road between Bonvilles roundabout and Sadlers Farm after being called to reports of offensive weapons seen in Althorne yesterday afternoon. It was reported two suspects were seen with knives before leaving in a car. The suspects' car was chased by police before there was a crash between the car and a van at 1.50pm on the northbound side of the A130 near Bowers Gifford.

All four people in the vehicles - two in the car and two in the van - sustained injuries and were taken to hospital for further treatment where they remain. Thankfully, after all patients were assessed at hospital, police have now confirmed none of the injuries sustained by those in the van or the car are believed to be life-threatening. Both the driver and passenger in the car were also arrested on suspicion of aggravated burglary.

In an update, chief superintendent Scott Egerton said: "We are in regular contact with all those involved in this incident and our investigation is continuing at pace.

"As we would with any incident of this nature, we have made a mandatory referral to the Independent Office for Police Conduct.

"We'd like to thank everyone affected by the disruption last night while we worked with paramedics and firefighters to make sure everyone was safe and every line of enquiry was explored as quickly as possible."
