A van is reported to have hit a bridge support column shortly after 5.30pm. The air ambulance crew from the Essex and Hertfordshire branch of the medical charity arrived at approximately 6.45pm, landing on a field between the A299 and Molehill Road in Herne Bay.

The call-out came at the same time one of Kent's helicopters was dealing with an incident near Asda in Gillingham[3].

The road reopened shortly after 9pm.

The emergency services have been contacted for more information.
