A man from Preston has been arrested after a man was killed in a reported hit-and-run in Ashton-on-Ribble. Police were called to to Fylde Road at 8.40pm last night[12] (30 November) after reports that a pedestrian had been struck by a Suzuki Swift which did not stop at the scene. Officers quickly established a cordon in the area but the man, in his 40s, was pronounced dead the scene.

A 24-year-old man from Preston has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and failing to stop and he is in custody. Police are appealing for any information anyone may have relating to the incident. A spokesperson for police said: “We were called to Fylde Road in Preston at around 8:40pm last night (Saturday 30th November) following reports of a road traffic collision.

“It was reported that a pedestrian had been struck by a Suzuki Swift which failed to stop at the scene. “Very sadly, despite the best efforts of emergency services, the pedestrian – a man in his 40s – was pronounced deceased at the scene. Our thoughts remain with his family at this difficult time.

“Following enquiries, a 24-year-old man from Preston has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and failing to stop. He remains in custody at this time. “We’re now appealing to the public to help our investigation.
