Cyclist taken to hospital with serious injuries following A494 collision

A cyclist was seriously injured following a crash with a van on the A494. Emergency services were called to the crash, which happened near the junction for Llanarmon-yn-Ial in Denbighshire[1], at around 12.20pm. The road was closed in both directions, before the cyclist was taken to hospital.

A police spokeswoman said: "Shortly after 12.20pm today, we received a report of a road traffic collision on the A494 near Llanferres involving a cyclist and a van. "Officers attended along with colleagues from the Welsh Ambulance Service, and the road was closed in both directions. The cyclist was taken to hospital with serious injuries."

After the crash took place, Traffic Wales urged drivers to avoid the area. Long delays built up on surrounding roads. The road reopened shortly before 4pm.
