Driver hurt and ‘barrier damaged’ in A500 smash between car and truck

A driver was injured and a barrier damaged in a crash between a truck and a car on the A500. The collision through Porthill saw the stretch temporarily shut off. StokeonTrentLive reported yesterday[1] how even when one lane was back open it triggered long delays through the area.

Images showed a car on the wrong side of the inside lane barrier. Today Staffordshire Police say the driver of the car suffered an injured wrist - while their car, a Ford Focus, had to be recovered from the scene. The smash occurred at around 6.20am yesterday morning.

A police spokeswoman said: "We were called to reports of a collision involving a Ford Focus and a lorry on the A500 at Porthill.

The driver of the car injured her wrist.

There was damage to a barrier."
