First picture of driver who killed motorcycling dad-of-two in A448 ‘careless overtake’

This is the first picture of a careless driver who killed a motorcyclist after overtaking traffic. West Mercia Police issued Fay Newman's mugshot after she was jailed for causing his death by careless driving. The 52-year-old, of Upper Field Close, Redditch[1], was driving down the A448 Bromsgrove[2] Highway towards Redditch in her Kia Ceed when she overtook traffic and collided with Nick Bennell on his Honda motorbike.

The dad-of-two, 35 and from Worcester, had come off his bike in a separate incident moments before and, with traffic in lane one of the dual carriageway, Newman moved to lane two before she struck him.

Nick was pronounced dead at the scene on August 18, 2021.
