Five-vehicle M11 crash in Cambridgeshire leaves two injured

A five-vehicle crash on the M11[1] near Trumpington, south of Cambridge[2], on Monday (December 2) left two people injured. Two lorries and two cars crashed into each other at around 4.34pm, and a fifth vehicle later hit the stationary vehicles. Drivers faced long delays[3] as one lane was blocked by a lorry and car, which had hit the central reservation.

The road was partially closed at junction 11 and there was extremely heavy traffic[4] to junction ten at Duxford. A Cambridgeshire Police[5] spokesperson said: "We were called at 4.34pm yesterday afternoon (Monday) with reports of a collision involving two lorries and two cars on the M11 northbound at the junction with the A10[6] at Hauxton and Trumpington. Lane two was blocked by a lorry and a car which had collided with the central reservation.

"A fifth vehicle later collided with the stationary vehicles. No one was seriously injured. Two of the drivers sustained minor injuries."

An East of England Ambulance Service[7] spokesperson said: "We were called at 4.36pm on Monday 2 December to a road traffic collision on the northbound M11, between junctions 10 and 11.

Two ambulances and an ambulance officer vehicle were sent to the scene.

"Two patients were transported to Addenbrooke's Hospital[8] for further assessment and treatment."
