Inquest opens into death of David Padley after Walton crash
David Padley died after the Seat Leon he was driving struck a Nissan Note in a head-on collision on Chester Road. The tragedy occurred near the junction with Hobb Lane at around 6.10pm on Sunday, November 10. Mr Padley, 65, died at the scene, along with a backseat passenger in the Nissan, Jayne Green, a 42-year-old mum from Westy.
Occupants of the Nissan, which belonged to Ms Green's mum, also suffered serious injuries. An inquest into Ms Green's death was opened on Wednesday, November 27, where the court heard the Nissan was 'struck by an oncoming vehicle which crossed onto the opposite carriageway'. Mr Padley is believed to have been the driver of this vehicle.
The day after the crash, Cheshire Police issued an appeal for witnesses and dashcam footage. Jayne Green died in a crash on the A56 Chester RoadAt a hearing at Warrington Coroner's Court on Wednesday, area coroner for Cheshire Victoria Davies officially opened and adjourned an inquest into the circumstances surrounding Mr Padley's death. An inquest date was listed for May 27, 2025, and an internal review date was set for February 16, 2025.
The reason for the inquest is Mr Padley's death was unnatural, Ms Davies said. A Just Giving page has been set up in his name, with money raised going to the Manchester Munich Memorial Fund. So far, it has raised GBP1,500.
The family of Ms Green paid tribute to her in the days following her death in a statement, in which they said: "Jayne who is a mother, sister, daughter, and partner will be sadly missed by friends and family."
No photo or tribute was issued by Cheshire Police on behalf of Mr Padley's family.
