Leicester man who died after A50 lorry crash named by police
A Leicester[1] man who died after a crash involving a lorry on the A50 has been named by police. Balhar Singh Gill's family hailed him as a "steady presence" in their lives in a moving tribute. Balhar was stationary in a white Citroen Berlingo van on the eastbound carriageway of the A50[2], near to Blythe Bridge in Staffordshire when a Mercedes lorry collided with him on Tuesday, December 10.
The collision happened at around 7.05pm just before the Creswell Road overbridge. The 62-year-old, from Leicester, suffered a serious head injury[3] and was taken to the Royal Stoke University Hospital by paramedics from West Midlands Ambulance Service. He died in hospital on Thursday, December 12.
