M6 live updates as lorry crashes at A500 slip-road

Motorists are being warned of delays on the M6[1] - following two crashes just miles apart. Traffic is queuing on the northbound after a lorry was involved in a collision at junction 16 slip-road for Stoke-on-Trent. Meanwhile, two lanes are closed further up on the northbound side following a collision between junction 17 and 18 in Cheshire.

Traffic monitoring site Inris says: "M6 Northbound entry slip road partially blocked, queueing traffic due to accident, a lorry involved at J16 A500 (Stoke-on-Trent/Crewe)." And regarding the Cheshire incident, Inrix adds: "Two lanes closed and queueing traffic due to accident on M6 Northbound between J17 A534 Old Mill Road (Sandbach/Crewe) and J18 A54 Middlewich Road (Middlewich/Holmes Chapel). Lanes one and two (of four) are closed.

This is a separate accident to the one which occurred on the same stretch earlier."
