Man dies in hospital month after being hit by car near Esso petrol station in Tonbridge Road, Barming
A man has died in hospital a month after being hit by a car near a petrol station. The 59-year-old was struck by a white Toyota H-CR as he crossed the A26 Tonbridge Road in Barming, near Maidstone, on Wednesday, November 6.

Picture: Andy FraserHe was airlifted to a London hospital for treatment, but police have confirmed today that he died from his injuries on Friday. They are now appealing for witnesses to the collision, which happened near the junction with Stanford Drive.
A police spokesperson says the Toyota was travelling from Maidstone to Barming at the time. They added: "Serious collision investigators are investigating the circumstances and are urging any witnesses who have not yet spoken to police to come forward. "Anyone who saw what happened, or who may have dashcam footage of the collision, or CCTV, should call the appeal line on 01622 798538 quoting reference SM/DGC/108/24.

Following the collision, resident Andy Fraser said the road was taped off and shut all night. "You weren't allowed to walk to the Tesco Esso garage, which had also closed early," he said.
"Forensics were at the scene.
There were a couple of ambulances and maybe three or four police cars."
