Roadside cameras record ‘significant’ decrease in speeding

Brundall has published the results of its recent speed awareness survey which was carried out between September 11 and October 10 in Blofield Road.  A SAM2 camera recorded 28,100 vehicles travelling southwards along the road in this time and compared the speeds to a similar survey which was done in June.  Brundall's SAM2 data shows a sharp drop in speedingBrundall's SAM2 data shows a sharp drop in speeding (Image: Brundall Parish Council) It showed the percentage of cars going over 35mph - 5mph faster than the enforced speed limit - dropped from 3.5pc to just 0.7pc. 

The highest speed recorded by the camera was 55mph and the average speed was 27mph. "We continue to have regular conversations with Norfolk County Highways to try and improve the safety of the roads in the village." In recent months, new 20mph roundels have been installed throughout the village and a handful of bollards have been erected at the Dales in response to concerns about parked cars reducing visibility.  Only one vehicle was recorded going more than 50mphOnly one vehicle was recorded going more than 50mph (Image: Brundall Parish Council) New signage was also put up outside the school in the summer to further enforce a no-stopping rule. Rachel added: "We have received funding to install village gates as you enter the village and the Berryfield junction continues to be a focus for the council.

"We are in regular conversation with highways, with the cost of any potential further parking restrictions being outside of what the parish council can afford, their support is needed."
