Speed cameras to be installed in Cumbria on A66 and A590

A review into crashes on two Cumbrian roads will see 19 new average speed cameras installed.

The schemes will add 15 along the A590 between Ayside and Brettargh Holt roundabout, and a further four to the A66 between Dubwath and Cockermouth.

National Highways said the work, which has a combined cost of GBP2.4m, was prompted by a review of "collision data".

Diana Parums, from Embleton Parish Council, which has raised concerns about speeding on the A66, said she "warmly welcomed" the cameras.
