Traffic delayed after two crashes in Taunton in 10 minutes
There were reports of two car crashes in and around the Taunton area, with one male driver reportedly hitting a van in a 30MPH zone. The first incident reportedly happened around 2:15pm on Greenway Road with reports of no injuries. The second crash, happening on Staplegrove Road, barely a mile from the first incident, was around 10 minutes later.
An elderly man, believed to be in his 90s, reportedly caused both incidents which delayed traffic - this is not confirmed yet whilst we await a police response. Again, there are no confirmed reports of injuries from the second incident on Staplegrove Road. Traffic in the area was held for upwards of 40 minutes at one point due to both incidents happening in such a short space of time between each other.
Police have been seen at the scene of both incidents and both vehicles have since been cleared. "We were called at 2:17pm to Greenway Road in Taunton after reports of a collision involving two vehicles," said a police spokesperson. "A short while later we received reports of a second two-vehicle collision on Staplegrove Road, near its junction with Manor Road. "Officers attended, alongside the fire service.
The vehicles have since been recovered and the roads cleared.
"No serious injuries were reported."
