24 locations of mobile speed cameras in Leeds this week

Every week, mobile speed cameras are put in place across the city in a bid by the authorities to reduce accidents. These cameras are put in place by the West Yorkshire Police Camera Enforcement Unit on the behalf of the West Yorkshire Safety Camera Partnership. They can be found in two types of location, core camera sights and community concern sites.

A core camera site is one in which the authorities have identified that mobile speed cameras may help to reduce accidents and casualties. A community concern site does not meet the same criteria, but has instead been identified by locals as an area in which mobile speed cameras may help. The cameras work by shining a laser which is designed to work under a variety of weather and light conditions at passing cars. This then determines their speed. Enforcement can be expected at any time of the day, seven days a week, and warning signs may not be present.
