Appeal after 11-year-girl seriously injured in A14 crash near Ellington
An 11-year-old girl and a 35-year-old man were seriously injured in a crash on the A14 which police believe was caused by a detached lorry tyre. Officers are appealing for witnesses and dashcam footage of the collision which occurred at about 5.45pm on Sunday (26 January) near Ellington.
Anyone with information should report it through the force website Picture: iStockEmergency services were called to the eastbound carriageway after a white Kia Sportage and black Volkswagen Passat CC collided. The collision is believed to have been caused by a detached lorry tyre.
The driver of the Sportage, a 35-year-old man from the Cambridge area, and an 11-year-old girl who was a passenger, were taken to Addenbrooke's Hospital, in Cambridge, with serious injuries. The driver of the Passat, a 52-year-old man from Exmouth, Devon, was taken to Hinchingbrooke Hospital, in Huntingdon, with minor injuries. Anyone with information and saw, or has dashcam footage, of the moments leading up to the collision, especially anyone who witnessed the lorry tyre detaching, should report it through the force website[1] using reference CC-26012025-0345.
