Dartford Crossing lorry crash: Police share condition update

The road was shut after reports of two lorries and a van crashing on the Dartford River Crossing at about 1.45pm today (January 27). Five people were taken to hospital, it was previously reported. Now the News Shopper is told that four people were left with minor injuries, and a fifth person sustained a serious but not life-threatening or life-changing injury.

As of around 6pm there were two hours of congestion before J3 (M20 Swanley interchange) with delays through Dartford, Stone and Darenth, with heavy traffic along local routes. All lanes reopened at around 4.40pm. An Essex Police spokesperson said: "We were called to reports of a collision on the A282 Dartford River Crossing, anti-clockwise, at about 1.45pm on Monday 27 January.

"Three vehicles, two lorries and a van, were involved in the collision. Four people were left with minor injuries and a fifth sustained a serious but not life-threatening or life-changing injury. All five were left in the care of the ambulance service.

"The road was temporarily closed while officers cleared the scene, and as of 4.40pm all lanes have reopened."
