Investigation into A342 crash that hospitalised 11 ongoing

The Urchfont Community minibus was involved in a crash with a Heritage Fine Foods van on the A342 Monument Hill near Stert, shortly before midday on Thursday, January 9.

11 people were taken to hospital after suffering varying levels of injuries during the incident. These casualties ranged in age from their 50s to their 90s. None are believed to have been in a life threatening condition following the crash.

Police launched an investigation into the incident and have now confirmed that enquiries remain ongoing.

At this stage, no arrests have been made. The Serious Collision Investigation Team carried out work at the scene for hours after a crew of ambulances treated those involved.

The A342 remained closed until the following morning while this took place. Anyone who witnessed the incident has been urged to contact police. A spokesperson for the force added: "We are appealing for witnesses following a serious collision on the A342 on the morning of Thursday, January 9, between a van and a community minibus.

"Any witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage is asked to contact the Serious Collision Investigation Unit on 01225 694597 or by emailing [email protected], quoting log 114 of today's date."
