Large police presence involved in manhunt for crash driver just south of Wick

Multiple police are desperately searching for a driver that crashed into one of their vehicles around the Hempriggs area just south of Wick earlier today. A large police presence is involved in the search for the driver around a mile south of Wick on the A99 road after the incident which occurred around noon. Throughout the day, the police presence has gradually built up with more and more vehicles coming to an area situated between Rockhill and along the length of the Hempriggs straight.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "A police vehicle being used by officers carrying routine enquiries was struck by another vehicle on a private road south of Wick shortly after 12pm on Thursday, 30 January. "The driver of the other vehicle involved then left the area and enquiries are ongoing to locate him. "Neither of the officers in the police vehicle were injured.

"A significant police presence remains in the area while these enquiries continue."
