Live: A30 closed near Chard after serious lorry crash

A stretch of the A30 near Chard is closed in both directions this morning (January 16) after a lorry crashed and went off the road overnight. The incident happened shortly before midnight, and was reported at 6am this morning on traffic monitoring site, Inrix, as accident investigation work is now being carried out. The Inrix report read: "A30 in both directions closed due to accident investigation work between the Whitestaunton/Northay turn-off (Chard) and James Lane (Crawley, Honiton).

Avon and Somerset Police have been contacted for comment.
