Live Surrey M25 updates as section of motorway to be fully closed between Wisley and Reigate
The M25[1] has been closed between J10, for the A3 and J8, for Reigate after a lorry has struck the central reservation. Recovery work[2] has been completed overnight, but the road surface is still being assessed by a specialist engineer for damage. The incident closed the road until just after midnight when the clockwise carriageway was also blocked to allow an Air Ambulance to attend.
A diversion route has been put in place and the motorists should follow Square signs via the A3 to Tolworth, then south via Ewell[3] back to Reigate. There are currently delays of around 40 minutes against expected traffic and motorists are queueing for two miles. From 11am, a full closure of the anti-clockwise carriage is planned for up to five hours to allow a full resurface to take place.
