Lorry crash and fire in Somerset triggers emergency road repairs
A road in Somerset was closed after a serious crash yesterday morning[1], Wednesday, January 15. A lorry caught fire following the collision. The A358 Halsway Hill was also shut for much of Thursday, January 16, as emergency repairs took place between Halsway Lane to Whites Lane.
The crash took place near the village of Crowcombe, located eight miles north west of Taunton[2]. The road was initially shut between the turn off for Stogumber and Culverhays Lane. The lorry fire damaged the road surface which needed considerable work to make safe for motorists.
The road reopened and traffic had returned to normal by 3pm this afternoon (Thursday, January 16).
Inrix previously reported: "A358 Halsway Hill in both directions closed, queueing traffic due to accident from Stogumber turn off to Culverhays Lane."
