Man killed in crash between pick-up truck and motorbike that saw road shut for more than 12 hours

A motorcyclist has died after a crash with a pick-up truck in Powys. The collision happened on the A483 between Welshpool and Berriew on Thursday. The rider of the motorcycle, who was in his 60s, died at the scene of the crash.

The force is now appealing for witnesses who may have seen the crash, or who may have footage of it, to come forward with a spokeswoman saying: "We received a report of a two-vehicle road traffic collision on the A483 between Welshpool and Berriew, at around 3.20pm on January 23.

The collision involved a car and a Toyota Hilux and a blue Yamaha motorcycle. "Sadly a man in his 60s, who was riding the motorcycle, died at the scene. His family have been informed and are being supported by officers.

The road was closed overnight while specialist collision investigators carried out their enquiries.

It re-opened at 3.40am on Friday, January 24.

"Anyone with information that could help with the investigation, including anyone who was travelling along the road at the relevant time with dashcam footage, is asked to report it to Dyfed-Powys Police either through a direct message on social media, online[2], by emailing [email protected], or by calling 101 quoting reference number 25*62100."
