Pictures show crash causing A350 closure near Chippenham

Wiltshire Police have said that there were no serious injuries but the scene was attended by two ambulances, according to an eye-witness. The police have advised motorists to avoid the area as the road will remain closed for some time while the vehicles are removed. Pictures from the site show the crash was between a black Nissan Ariya and a Mercedes articulated lorry.

A spokesperson for Wiltshire Police said: "Please be aware of closures in place in both directions on the A350 at Lacock following a road traffic collision involving a lorry and a car. "There are no reported serious injuries at this time but the road will remain closed for some time to allow for removal of the vehicles. Please seek alternative routes and expect delays in the area."

The AA interactive traffic map shows the stretch of the A350 south of Chippenham closed off between Lackham Roundabout and Lacock. The map had previously shown the road backed up for several kilometres along stretches of the A road south of Chippenham, with congestion worst around Lacock. The AA adds that long delays are expected for those travelling in the area, with the road closed going both ways.

With the busy road closed, the X34 bus between Chippenham and Frome is reportedly on diversion via Corsham.
