Tree smashes into Glasgow van roof injuring driver during Storm Eowyn
The man, who was driving a City Building van, was treated by paramedics after the accident at around 9am on Balmore Road near Lambhill Cemetery. It is understood he had been travelling while working during as the city was gripped by adverse weather. Today, hundreds of our members are being pressured to take taxis to work despite the red weather warning.

Following the accident, Facebook page No1seems2care has asked people to "think carefully" before calling services for help today. A post read: "Power cuts, leaking taps, broken fences, broken tiles etc can all wait until later when the storm has calmed down. "The same applies to calling the emergency services, please don't call them unless it's a real emergency or risk to life."
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 9.05am on Friday, 24 January, 2025. we were called to Balmore Road, Glasgow following a report that a tree had fallen on a van. "The driver was treated by ambulance staff and the vehicle was recovered." A red weather warning for wind is in place across Glasgow until 5pm today.
Glasgow City Council, City Building and the Scottish Ambulance Service have been contacted for comment.
