Van severely damaged after it crashed into tree on the A38 near Derbyshire border

This was the aftermath of a crash on a main road which involved a van and a tree. The driver of the van was not seriously injured in the incident on the A38 just over the Staffordshire border. Staffordshire Police told Derbyshire Live that officers were called to the A38 near the Branston underpass at around 2.15pm on Thursday (January 16), following reports that a van had crashed into a tree.

In a statement released today (Friday, January 17), a force spokesperson said: "Officers went to the scene alongside paramedics from West Midlands Ambulance Service. The driver of the van, a man, was assessed at the scene and was not seriously injured. Recovery was arranged."

Traffic was held up in the area while officers dealt with the incident and emergency services attended.
