Woman charged as police investigate crash on M65
Officers were called to junction eight westbound of the M65, in the early hours of Thursday morning. It was reported that a driver had stopped in the first lane of the carriageway, and turned their engine off, allegedly leading to a crash. No one suffered serious injuries.
A 28-year-old woman from Whalley was arrested on suspicion of drink driving. Molly Devenney, 28, of Cherry Tree Road, Whalley has since been charged with failure to provide a sample of breath, and has been bailed to appear at Blackburn Magistrates Court on March 5. When police closed the road some drivers, including HGV drivers, drove along the hard shoulder, endangering police and the public.

A 33 and a 27-year-old man, both from Bradford in West Yorkshire were both arrested on suspicion of money laundering. They have been bailed whilst police enquiries continue. A police spokesperson said: "There's quite a few things that you'd expect to find in a paper bag ... a significant amount of cash probably isn't one of them.
"At around 3.20pm on Wednesday, our officers stopped a silver Peugeot 308 on the M6, near to Samlesbury. "When stopped, our officers searched the vehicle and found a brown paper bag holding a large quantity of cash. "A 33 and a 27-year-old man, both from Bradford in West Yorkshire were both arrested on suspicion of money laundering.
They have been bailed whilst our enquiries continue. "In the early hours of Thursday morning, shortly before 4am, we received a report of a minor injury collision on the M65, near to junction eight westbound. "When our officers arrived, we found that a driver had [allegedly] stopped in the first lane of the carriageway, and turned their engine off, leading to the collision.

"Whilst a road closure was implemented to ensure the safety of those on the road, a few drivers, including drivers in HGVs chose to ignore our road closure, and drive along the hard shoulder, endangering both members of the public and our officers. "This is completely unacceptable, and incredibly dangerous. To those of you who chose to ignore the road closure, and drive along the hard shoulder - we know who you are, and you will be prosecuted for it.
