A1 closure could remain in place all morning
The lengthy closure of the A1 in both directions looks set to be in place for most of Monday morning, following a National Highways update that now states: "Normal traffic conditions are expected between 11:15 and 11:30." Nottinghamshire Police are continuing to investigate the multi-vehicle collision that occurred on Sunday evening. The collision triggered hours of standstill traffic and delays, as well as reports of frustrated stranded drivers being reprimanded for attempting to skip the queues.
Traffic sensors on the route, which are updated by Highways and the police, are now stating that the cause of yesterday's "serious accident" was a collision involving at least a car and a van. The sensors read: "A1 in both directions closed due to accident investigation work between the A57 (Worksop, Upper Morton) and J34 A614 ( Blyth / Bawtry, Blyth ). "Following a serious accident involving a car and a van on Sunday evening.
Southbound traffic is able to re-join the A1 at Ranby."
