A12 northbound closure: emergency services issue update

Traffic control reported a section of the A12 northbound was blocked between the A134 Junction 28 and the A120 Junction 29 at 2.25pm due to an "incident and breakdown". The road was closed and motorists faced severe delays back to junction 26 and on roads around Colchester as traffic built up. Both Essex Police and the East of England Ambulance Service were on the scene.

Later in the afternoon, a lane was reopened, but one remained shut as Essex Police's roads policing unit monitored the situation. Incident - an image from the scene with one lane closedIncident - an image from the scene with one lane closed Essex Police reopened the second lane at around 4.15pm. A spokesman for the force has confirmed it was only vehicular "damage" that was caused during the crash.

A spokesman for the East of England Ambulance Service said: "Two ambulances and a paramedic car were sent to the A12 near Colchester this afternoon after receiving reports of a road traffic collision.

"No patients required ambulance transport."
