A350 Chippenham crash victim died in lorry collision

56-year-old Angela Isabel Campos Dos Santos died after a serious crash on the A350 at Chippenham, between Chequers and Lackham Roundabouts, shortly before 5pm on December 1, 2023. Area Coroner Ian Singleton recorded the cause of Angela's death as road traffic collision following an inquest on Monday, February 10. The inquest heard that Angela's car had swerved onto the wrong side of the road twice, for unknown reasons, and the second time struck an oncoming lorry.

Angela suffered fatal injuries in this crash and died at the scene. The coroner concluded: "Angela Isabel Campos Dos Santos was travelling alone in her motor car, heading south on the A350 West Cepen Way Chippenham, Wiltshire, which had a single carriageway in each direction. "For reasons that remain unclear on the evidence, Angela's vehicle was seen to travel into the offside carriageway, before moving back towards the correct side of the road.

"Angela's car then moved abruptly into the opposite carriageway directly into the path of an oncoming lorry, resulting in a collision causing the injuries that led to Angela's death at the scene."
