Audi driver Conor Holland, 24, died after ‘losing control of car’ on bend, inquest finds
A Hartlepool man died after losing control of his car and crashing, an inquest has heard. Conor Ellis Holland[1] was killed when the blue Audi S3 car he was driving failed to negotiate a turn on the A689 near the Travellers Rest Pub in the town and struck some railings on November 17, 2023. An inquest into the 24-year-old's death heard that he suffered three fractures to his cervical spine (the neck area), as well as other injuries including 13 fractures to his right ribs and five to the left and there was bleeding in his chest.
Assistant coroner Paul Appleton said the evidence of pathologist Dr Jennifer Bolton showed it was the neck injuries which had caused Mr Holland's death and that his injuries were in line with a road traffic accident. Mr Appleton, who held the inquest at Teesside Coroner's Court[2], said toxicology tests showed there were no signs of drugs and that Mr Holland was not intoxicated at the time of the collision.
