Car ploughs through fence and into Leicestershire property

A car ploughed through a fence and crashed into a property in Leicestershire[1] today (Tuesday, February 11). Fire, Leicestershire Police[2] and ambulance[3] crews attended the scene in Earls Way, Thurmaston, after the crash was reported to emergency services at around 3.30pm. A spokesman for Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service[4] said a crew from Birstall Fire Station, who were already in the area, arrived "within minutes" to find the vehicle had caused minor damage to the brickwork of the property, believed to be a house.

They added that paramedics had treated the driver at the scene, although a police spokesman told Leicestershire Live[5] that "no-one was injured". Firefighters made the vehicle safe before handing the incident over to police at 4:03pm, the fire spokesperson said. Police said no arrests had been made.

It was one of several crashes in Leicestershire today.[7] At 7am, a four-vehicle crash on the slip road onto the M1[8] near Fosse Park led to a lane closure and four-mile queues on the northbound motorway, as well as long queues on the city-bound M69. A pedestrian was struck by a car on the A47 in Leicester[9], not far from Narborough Road, at 7.30am, leading to queues throughout the area. And drivers faced congestion after two vehicles collided at the entrance to a supermarket in Leicester's Narborough Road this afternoon.

The crash, reported by Area Traffic Control[10] at 1pm today (Tuesday, February 11), led to queues as vehicles waited to pass the crashed cars.
