Crash causes afternoon queues in Narborough Road in Leicester

Drivers faced congestion after two vehicles collided at the entrance to a supermarket in Leicester's Narborough Road this afternoon. The crash, reported by Area Traffic Control[1] at 1pm today (Tuesday, February 11), led to queues as vehicles waited to pass the crashed cars. A spokesperson for Area Traffic Control said: "RTC Narborough Rd, Leicester.

City-bound carriageway is partially blocked near to Westleigh Avenue. Expect delays." Pictures from Leicester Media Online showed damage to both the vehicles and Leicestershire Police[2] at the scene.

As well as queues several hundred yards long in both directions on Narborough Road, there was also a long queue on Upperton Road heading towards the Narborough Road junction. The crash is at least the third to cause traffic issues in the Leicester area today. At 7am, a four-vehicle crash on the slip road onto the M1[4] near Fosse Park led to a lane closure and four-mile queues on the northbound motorway, as well as long queues on the city-bound M69.
