Driver disqualified after being caught speeding on the M4

Claire Cairns, of Main Road, Alvescot, Bampton, was caught on January 4, 2024 speeding on the M4 near Maidenhead. The 49-year-old was driving a Volkswagen eastbound on the motorway and was caught on an automatic speed camera driving at 87mph in a 70mph speed limit zone. Appearing at High Wycombe Magistrates' Court on February 18 this year, Cairns indicated guilty to one charge of speeding.

She was disqualified from driving for six months and had three penalty points added to her driving record.

Cairns was also fined GBP461.

There were court costs of GBP90 and a victim surcharge of GBP184 that she will need to pay by the middle of March.
