Live: Crash closes A38 Bristol Road as heavy traffic builds near Claypits

Heavy traffic was building on a key route south of Gloucester[1] following a serious crash involving two HGVs this morning, Friday, February 14. The A38 Bristol Road, which runs parallel to the M5, was completely closed and drivers were told to expect delays between Claypits and Cambridge. Google Maps showed very slow traffic in that area[2].

A spokesperson for Gloucestershire Police has said: "Police were called at around 4.15am this morning (14 February) following a report of a collision involving two HGV vehicles on the A38 Bristol Road near Hilltop Garage at Claypits. "The road was closed between Claypits and Cambridge to allow the vehicles to be removed from the carriageway and the road to be made safe. No serious injuries were reported."

Traffic site Inrix first reported the crash at 6.52am.

It said: "A38 Bristol Road in both directions closed, slow traffic due to accident from the car dealership (Claypits) to the George Inn (Cambridge)."
