M5 roundabout lorry crash caused major delays in Exeter
There were long delays forming near Exeter[1] after a lorry crash on a key roundabout on the M5 this afternoon[2], Tuesday, February 18. The A379, where it meets Sandygate Roundabout is heavily congested and motorists have been told to use alternative routes where possible. Drivers have been warned that there is heavy traffic in the area[3].
Devon Alert reported: "There has been an RTC on Sandygate roundabout, Exeter, with lanes blocked towards the services, please use alternative routes where possible and use care when navigating this junction." Roads and traffic monitoring site, Inrix, also reported the crash. It said: "A379 partially blocked, slow traffic due to accident at M5 J30 (Exeter / service areas).
On the roundabout." A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police said: "This was a road traffic collision involving a lorry and a car at Sandygate Roadabout first reported at around 1.55pm. No injuries.
Road now clear."
