The M6 was closed southbound near to where Junction 32 joins it at Broughton. Motorists were reporting delays and matrix signs flashing. All traffic was held southbound heading towards where the M6 Junction 31A slip road is.

The incident took place around 8.45pm on Wednesday (5 February). The motorway fully reopened around 9.10pm and delays are clearing. Blog Preston has contacted Lancashire Police for further information.

It follows an extensive closure of the M6 northbound between Junction 32 and Junction 33 during Wednesday morning and early afternoon which caused gridlock across the city. A man in his 50s was taken to hospital[7] with serious injuries after a crash between a van and a lorry.
