The M6 has reopened after a crash which created a ripple effect of disruption across central Lancashire. Police were called to reports of a crash after 5am this morning (5 February) with the M6 being closed northbound between junctions 32 and 33 for around eight hours as a result. One man has been taken to hospital with serious injuries.[6]

The incident meant significant traffic on other key roads around Preston as commuters sought to avoid the closure on the M6. A spokesperson for police said earlier: "At 5:20am today (Wednesday 5th February) we were called to reports of a collision between a van and a lorry on the M6 between Junctions 32-33. "Officers attended and a man in his 50s has been taken to hospital with serious injuries.

"The M6 Northbound between junctions 32-33 is currently closed and we anticipate it will be closed for some time. "If you witnessed this incident, have any dashcam footage or information that could help, please call 101 quoting log 132 of 5th February."
