M6 traffic LIVE as ‘serious crash’ between HGV and van forces motorway to shut
A section of the M6 is completely closed following a 'serious collision' this morning (February 5). All lanes going northbound are shut between junctions 32 and 33 in Lancashire following the crash which involved a lorry and a van. All emergency services are in attendance.
Traffic is building around junction 32 near Preston where the M6 meets the M55 as diversions are put in place. The closure is affecting all three northbound lanes up to junction 33 for Garstang. Lancashire Police says that the motorway is expected to be closed for some time.
In a statement on X, the force said: "The M6 Northbound between junctions 32-33 is currently closed due to a road traffic collision. "We anticipate that the motorway will be closed for some time. We'd recommend looking for an alternative route.
"We'll update you here once the motorway is open."
According to National Highways, disruption is expected throughout the early morning.
