Major M5 delays in Somerset after crash near Weston-super-Mare
There was slow traffic on the M5 after a crash in Somerset this afternoon (Wednesday, February 26). According to traffic monitoring site Inrix, two lanes were closed on the northbound carriageway. The crash took place between junction 21 for Weston-super-Mare and junction 20 for Clevedon.
It was first reported at around 2.25pm and traffic was briefly held on the motorway. Inrix reported that lane closures caused slow traffic following the accident on M5 northbound from J21 A370 (Weston-super-Mare) to J20 B3133 Ettlingen Way (Clevedon). Following a brief hold of around 10 minutes, traffic was been released but delays remained until around 5pm.
Further south there has been a more serious lorry crash on the M5 between the junctions for Bridgwater and Taunton.
The motorway has been shut in both directions since around 3pm. See here for more information and live updates.[1]
