Man arrested after Deansway wall crash in Worcester
The driver was arrested this morning (February 18) after 'slamming' into a wall by Worcester Cathedral in Deansway leaving it structurally unstable. Deansway has been closed by Worcestershire County Council until midnight. The wall is believed to belong to a residential building but Worcester Cathedral is investigating who owns it.
One man who heard the crash described hearing a loud bang and rushing to the scene to find a car had crashed into the wall. One passer-by who spoke to a Worcester News reporter said: "I'm shocked because this is quite unusual but I hope everyone is ok. "I was just being quite inquisitive because of all the flashing lights.
"I suppose it's a good thing this happened when it did because during the day there would have been people walking here and it would have been another story. As a result of Deanway's closure, heavy traffic on the A38 could be seen throughout the day. One fire engine and at least four police officers were sent to the scene to remove the vehicle and set up a cordon.
Emergency services were first alerted to the crash at 6.45am this morning (February 18).
