Man dies in hospital following Worsley three-car crash

At around 4.20pm on Sunday[1] (February 23), a Citreon C3 crashed into a stationary Toyota Rav 4 waiting at a set of traffic lights on Chaddock Lane. A third car, a Renault Master, was hit by the Toyota after the impact of the crash. The driver of of the Citreon was a man in his 60s and he was taken to hospital but died after a "suspected medical episode".

Greater Manchester Police (GMP)[2] are now appealing for information about the crash. A spokesperson from GMP said: "Our Serious Collision Investigation Unit (SCIU) is now appealing for information as their enquiries continue. "This includes any relevant dashcam, CCTV, or doorbell footage from around the time of the incident."

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue said: "At around 4.30pm on Sunday 23 February, two fire engines from Farnworth Community Fire Station, and the Technical Response Unit from Leigh Community Fire Station, were called attend a road traffic collision involving a van and two cars[6] on Chaddock Lane, Worsley.

"Crews arrived quickly and are working alongside colleagues from Greater Manchester Police and North West Ambulance Service to make the area safe."

The A580 East Lancashire Road Eastbound was closed until 8pm.
