Man in 20s dies as lorry crashes into road sweeper on New Thanet Way at St Nicholas-at-Wade
A man in his 20s has died and a lorry driver been left with serious injuries after a crash with a road sweeper. Police are investigating the collision on the A299 Thanet Way at St Nicholas-at-Wade, which closed the road for hours last night.
The force says a white Fiat Ducato lorry was travelling along the dual-carriageway towards London when it collided with a stationary Iveco Daily road sweeper. The passenger of the lorry, a man in his 20s, died at the scene.
His next of kin have been made aware. The lorry driver, a man in his 20s, was taken to hospital with serious injuries, where he remains in a stable condition, and the other driver, a man in his 60s, was taken to a local hospital for treatment to minor injuries. Kent Police's serious collision investigation unit is investigating and urges anyone who witnessed the incident, but has not yet spoken to police, to contact them.
