A group of suspected illegal migrants were allegedly discovered hiding in the back of a Spanish-registered lorry on a motorway in Surrey today.

The HGV carrying oranges was intercepted on the M3westbound between junction two for the M25 and junction three for Woking, Bracknell and Lightwater.

Police and paramedics attended the scene near Longcross Film Studios - with at least seven men and women photographed sitting or standing by the side of the road.

Three of the group were wearing light green space blankets as they spoke to each other, while detectives made phone calls and pointing to cameras next to the road.

Five officers were pictured standing next to the group and a Surrey Police van, while three paramedics from the South East Coast Ambulance Service were also present.

The lorry involved was branded with the logo of Miguel Ramon Transport, a Spanish haulage firm based in Tarragona, and crates of oranges could be seen in the back.

The incident caused long delays for motorists heading out of London[2] this morning on the M3, which runs for 59 miles from Sunbury-on-Thames to Eastleigh in Hampshire.

MailOnline has contacted Miguel Ramon Transport, Surrey Police and the South East Coast Ambulance Service for comment.
