New photo released of woman struck down on A1 still unidentified 50 years on

New photos have been released of a young woman travelling to London who was struck down on the A1 near Baldock. Her identity and circumstances surrounding her death remain unsolved 50 years on[1]. Now, Locate International, a charity that works to locate the missing and name the unidentified, has released an artist's picture of what she may have looked like.

Investigators have also released what they believe could have been her name. Known as the Baldock Woman, she was found barefoot on the southbound carriage of the A1 near the A507 slipway on February 18, 1975 after being hit by at least one car. Baldock Woman was reportedly seen only 45 minutes before she died - by a witness who claims she told her that she was making her way to London and spoke with a foreign accent.
