Person taken to hospital after crash on A39 near Minehead

Heavy delays occurred on the A39 today (Thursday, February 20) after a car and a van collided at Washford Cross.

A road closure was needed as police attended the scene with at least one fire engine spotted by the public. The road is currently partially blocked while vehicle recovery takes place.

A spokesperson from the Avon and Somerset Police said: "A collision between a car and a van on the A39 at Washford Cross was reported to us at approximately 11:40am this morning (Thursday 20 February).

"One man, who was driving the car, has been taken to hospital by paramedics.

"The road remains partially blocked while vehicle recovery is carried out."
