Pictures show aftermath of multi-vehicle crash on the M23
Emergency services were called to reports of a crash involving three cars and a large goods vehicle on the M23 southbound between junctions nine and ten near Gatwick airport, Crawley, at 10.15am. Sussex Police, West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service and South East Coast Ambulance Service were all in attendance.[1] Photographs show two damaged vehicles and a lorry that was involved being towed away from the scene by a recovery vehicle.
Queues of traffic formed due to the road closure which was put in place while emergency services dealt with the incident.
Paramedics assessed four people at the scene, three of who were then taken to East Surrey Hospital for further checks and treatment.
The M23 southbound has now been re-opened.
